Custom Earbuds Earphones that can be 3D printed

December 05, 2019

Many customers have ideas and requirements for customized earbuds and earphones, so 3D printing technology can also be used to print earphones. And it's very popular. (Headband Headphones, Stereo Headphones, Gaming Headsets, Computer Headphones, In Ear Earphones, Mobile Earphone, Headphones Earbuds, Wireless Earbud, Bluetooth Headsets) In the past two years, people have witnessed many related products entering the market. Snugs is one of the newest. The company conducts 3D scanning of the customer's ear canal and provides customized 3D printed earbuds tailored to the data.

Snugs claims that custom headphones can improve sound quality and comfort. Snugs uses 3D scanning and printing technology to make sound equipment, which the company says increases productivity and improves the final product.

The UK-based Snugs used paste filling technology to make molds for each customer's ear, and now they claim to be able to bring consumers the same level of personalized products in a more efficient way. But these are not cheap, Snugs uses a laser-mapped 3D ear scanning technology that ultimately produces a complex design that perfectly matches the user's ear canal.

According to Snugs, the entire scanning process and the construction of the digital model can be completed in just five minutes. The non-invasive 3D scanning method reduces the number of steps in the production process and provides the most accurate image possible.

In the past, when customizing the headset, it was necessary to manually push the silicone paste into the ear canal - it is invasive and not suitable for customers with diseases in the ear. Snugs said that the elimination of physical modeling meant that the custom production cycle had shrunk from the past week to less than four days now.

Currently, Snugs prints custom earbuds using an industrial grade silicone 3D printer from a third-party service provider, and Snugs is manually surfaced before being sent to the user. The company said they hope that all of these processes will be completed within the company by the end of the year.

In addition, Snugs offers 3D printed custom earbuds that are not cheap, a top-of-the-line product for high-end professionals. So it is not difficult to understand that Snugs customers are willing to go to the designated location for 3D scanning, and the business is currently only trial operation in London. According to China's 3D printing network, the entire process (scanning and customizing earplugs) costs £159, and if it is necessary to provide on-site scanning services, it costs £209. Keep in mind that when you're done with the entire process, you get a silicone earbuds that don't include the headphones inside. Snugs said they plan to open a physical store in London that can complete the scanning and 3D printing process on the spot.
